Gallardo Will leave River Plate After Eight year Spell.

Argentinian coach Marcelo Gallardo confirmed on Thursday he is leaving his position at River Plate after eight years. His contract with the club ends in December.

River Plate won 14 titles under Gallardo, including the 2018 Copa Libertadores against rival Boca Juniors in the final.

Gallardo, a former player of the Argentinian club, took over as River Plate coach in May 2014 after a brief spell as Uruguay’s head coach.

He led the resurrection of a team that had been relegated in 2011 and suffered a long title drought in international tournaments.

River sold several key players to European clubs in the recent past – striker Julian Alvarez went to Manchester City and midfielder Enzo Fernandez sealed a move to Benfica.

Gallardo himself has recently been linked with various European clubs
